Iran, 5+1 FMs to discuss early disputes on JCPOA

TEHRAN, Sep. 26 (MNA) – A joint commission consisting of Iran and the 5+1 will hold their first meeting on JCPOA in New York on September 28.

According to most-circuated Iranian daily Hamshahri, Iran and 5+1 will meet on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to deal with early disputes caused by the US misconception of sanction removal procedures.

Meanwhile, according to an informed source, the American side has reneged on the lifting of sanctions and the upcoming Joint Commission on JCPOA in New York will focus on the timing of sanctions removal.

Before his visit to the US, Mohammad Javad Zarif had said that the behavior of US officials towards JCPOA is not attracting the trust of Iran’s nation.

Head of Foreign Relations Strategic Council Kamal Kharrazi has said that, “Zarif’s recent remarks indicate that we need to exercise more care in implementation of JCPOA; according to Zarif, the source of dispute is a mismatch between the text of JCPOA and the US interpretation of the text.”

During the last few days, other senior Iranian officials have also made similar comments about America’s lack of commitment towards the lifting of sanctions.

Secretary of Iranian Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said at the meeting with the Dutch Foreign Minister that, “any attempt to restore or maintain sanctions would be against JCPOA and will exacerbate distrust."

Before leaving for New York, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said that, “in the past, we were faced with a wall dubbed as ‘sanctions’ in our interaction with the world, but today, following the UN Resolution 2231, this wall has been demolished.”

Rouhani has made these remarks while the US officials and members of the Congress are resisting the removal of sanctions imposed on Iran.
